Something I love about this Fast For Freedom is that it gives me the opportunity to dig into scriptures I rarely think to read. If you haven’t read it yet, pick up your bible and take a look at Psalm 139 – it is truly a beautiful psalm that reminds us that we were fearfully and wonderfully made. Every. Single. One. Of. Us.

And it is an assurance that we are never alone.

Never alone.

Even in the depths of despair. Even when we are doing something we hope that no one will see or know about. When we are in the light, and when we are in the darkness. God is with us.

God created us for fellowship. He meant for us to be seen and loved and known.

What an assurance when we think of the millions of people enslaved. They are not alone. Each person, no matter how terrible their circumstances, or how unwanted they may feel on this earth, was designed by the all powerful God.

Verses 8 – 10 were highlighted for today’s devotion, but the whole psalm is worth reading and contemplating. There are so many marvellous reminders of our value as humans woven into each paragraph.

It always amazes me every time I listen to the testimony of someone who makes the decision to follow God, or every time I meet someone who has been exploited or enslaved, it amazes me that laid out in their journey are beautiful reminders of God’s goodness. Even in the worst of circumstances God is in pursuit of our hearts and in conversation with our spirit.

And being in community with other people, reaching out a hand of care or concern or goodness, loving even in hard circumstances, is all a direct display of God’s value for people.

Be blessed, be challenged, be inspired.

Be the community that others need. Be that hand of care. Show God’s love and value for those around you and for those enslaved. You will never display freedom in a more real or tangible way.

Live out a love that shows others that they were formed by God almighty and that their life is of value and significance.

I dedicate this post to the lonely and forgotten. I dedicate my prayers to the enslaved and mistreated. I dedicate this moment to those who have realised the value of all people and who have set aside their time, their resources, and their hearts, to love and pursue others the way that God loves and pursues each one of us.
